Official opening for Chagford skate Park

25 Oct 2006 - At a ceremony in the Jubilee Hall because of the wet weather, the Mayor of West Devon offically opened the new Skate and Bike Park.

Terry Bleakman, chairman of Chagford Parish Council and a driving force behind the skate ride group opened proceedings with a bit of background on the project.

He said that although it had been a long time coming it was worth all the effort to see the amount of use that had already been made of it in the short time that it had been opened

He then went on to say that much of the money had been raised by the young people themselves and that the founder members of the group were now too old to make use of it

There was to be a demonstration and competition in the park following the opening but unfortunately this was cancelled due to the weather.
