| Chagford Square packed for Boxing Day meet |

On Monday 27th December there was hardly room for the horses as hundreds of people gathered in the Square to show their support for the Mid Devon Hunt. Despite the impending ban everyone was in defiant mood and the riders were clapped and cheered as they rode out through New Street.

The Chagford School Art Show held in September raised over £7000 towards the funds to support extramural activities at Chagford primary School.

| Money for Chagford |

On Saturday 17th November, there was an event held in Okehampton to promote the Market and Coastal Towns Initiative. Briefly this is a government backed scheme which aims to help communities draw up plans for their towns. Once specific projects are identified these can be submitted to various agencies who may be able to help with funding. Chagford has been invited to participate in the scheme and we need to come up with ideas for projects. Please email chagford@roundash.co.uk if you have any ideas or wish to be part of the group that will be formed to push this through.

| Beating of the Bounds. |

On Sunday 3rd September a group of 30 - 40 people walked the route from Jurston to Chagford via the Warren House Inn and Batworthy Corner. The weather was perfect for the event which began at 10.30am and finished at approximately 6.30pm in Chagford.

| New leaflet for Chagford |

A new leaflet aimed at getting visitors to come to Chagford has been produced by the Chagford & District Business Association. 30,000 copies have been printed and as well as being available locally they will be distributed to Tourist Information Centres throughout the country and hopefully abroad. As a result, this website will be completely updated in the near future. The intention is to provide more detailed and up to date information than can be incorporated in the leaflet. Please, if you have any content that you think merits publishing or may be useful then email chagford@roundash.co.uk.

| Swimming Pool Reopening |

Despite the non committal weather over 100 people attended the official reopening of Chagford Swimming Pool on Wednesday 9th August. After speeches by Marion Symes and Bob Young, Lady Hayter-Hames cut a ribbon at the edge of the pool and 20 or 30 people immediately jumped into the pool. More information...

Shape the Future of Chagford. Don't forget that on Monday 18th June there
will be a planning day in Endecott House from 11am to 8pm. Everyone is invited
to come along to discuss the development proposals for the land adjacent to
Bretteville Close.

| Foot and mouth |

Dartmoor National Park may be open again from the beginning of June provided
there are no further outbreaks of foot and mouth. Remember that the towns and villages have always been open.
