Cllr Peter Hill JP

22 Oct 2006 - On a wet Sunday morning members of Chagford Parish Council, representatives from West Devon Borough Council, the Rector and several members of the public gathered outside the Market House in Chagford for the unveiling of a plaque in honour of Peter Hill who died in July.

Peter had served on the Parish Council for 41 years and had also represented Chagford on West Devon Borough Council for many years. He had been Mayor of West Devon three times and was also a JP and served on numerous other committees.

Following a short welcome from Robert Sampson, Chagford's representative on West Devon Borough Council, the Rector gave a short dedication. The plaque was then unveiled by the Mayor of West Devon and Councillor Terry Bleakman, Chairman of Chagford Parish Council said a few words.

The plaque is on the South side of the Market House and reads 'Cllr Peter Hill JP Parish and Borough Councillor. This plaque is placed by Peter's friends and colleagues in grateful recognition of 48 years of public service. October 2006'
